Crab Apple Preserves

Today, I celebrated the first day of autumn by harvesting some crab apples from the tree in our office backyard…AND making preserves! The final product turned out great 🙂  More of a sweet and sour chutney, I would say, vs. the sweeter jam I was hoping for, but still amazingly delicious. No formal recipe, just crab apples (and one small green apple) tossed into a pot with filtered water, coconut sugar, cardamom, a dash of coriander and a pinch of Maras salt.
